Every year, every eligible company must produce their annual report and one part that has to be filled up or written is Corporate Governance statement.
Sounds familiar eh?.. not easy to do was it? hehehe.. usual :-)
Well, you could always look at other peoples' annual report or hire someone to do it for you. But of course for the final touches, eventually you'll have to install some of your own points. Afterall, its about you, your work and achievements plus what your company's is doing towards achieving its said objectives for corporate governance. That is, if your company has set any in the beginning of the year. If none, well, you know what to do.
Fabricating your corporate governance statement is easy but living up to it year after year in the annual report, which is, dont forget, a public document that easily accessable by analyst, reporters, investors, etc., is not a pretty sight. Nothing could be so torturing than that. Oh the agony to go on and on and on.
So be mindful of what you wrote and always touch base of what reality is to you and your company. You wouldn't want it to haunt you would you? :-)
I personally would like to part with some word of advice:
If you don't have any, don't do it.
If you have to do it, do it with a plan to have it as soon as possible.
If you have it but doesn't do anything with it, then go back to basic, which is the framework.
If you have it and does a litttle bit, write about that little bit. It'll go a long way but not so far a distance.
If you have it and does a lot, be proud of it. Nothing beats telling people of your effort.
If you have it, does a lot but no significant results, do something about it. You might need to do it differently.
If you have it, does is a lot or little, but bears significant results, be proud of it and broadcast it like mad. Why? because all humans want complements. And the complements you received or will receive, might bring extra $$ and/or fame to your company.
Logical? Risk management is sometimes branded as the management of common sense+intuition+luck+everything else. :-)
